Custom Python Development Services

Custom Python development is software written in Python for one company's own work: web apps on Django, APIs on FastAPI, data pipelines, automation and AI features. We are a Python development company headquartered in New York, and the Python developers who write that code are on our own engineering team.

§ 01 · services

What our custom Python development work covers

Python earns its place where the work is records, rules and traffic between systems. Six kinds of job suit it, each written around one company's process.

  1. Web apps and staff tools on Django: sign-ins, roles, records and the admin screens your team works in all day. Customers get screens of their own, since Django's documentation keeps its admin to internal management.
  2. APIs and integrations on FastAPI: endpoints your apps, partners and suppliers call, each request checked against a declared shape. More on our API and integration work.
  3. Data pipelines and reporting: scheduled jobs that pull records out of your accounting, sales and support tools, clean them, and load one PostgreSQL database for reports.
  4. Back-office automation: scripts that retire the weekly export, or the report someone rebuilds by hand every Monday.
  5. AI features: Python is what our team uses for AI and data work, such as answering staff questions from your own records. See our AI software development page.
  6. Upgrades and takeovers: an existing Python system moved onto supported releases, documented, then handed to whoever will keep it running.

When the product also needs a customer-facing web front end, our team builds it in Next.js and React on top of the Python API, and a mobile app defaults to React Native. Developers already on our team cover both.

Two rules for any AI feature

Put both in the scope before a model touches your data. The model sees only records the signed-in user may already open, and it proposes changes that a person confirms. Our CTO leads our AI chatbot builds, including the live chat assistant on this site.

Django, FastAPI or Flask: choosing by who uses it

Stack Overflow's 2025 Developer Survey, drawn from more than 49,000 responses in 177 countries, found FastAPI in use by 14.8 percent of respondents, Flask by 14.4 percent and Django by 12.6 percent. The survey singled out FastAPI's five-point gain as one of the largest moves among web frameworks that year.

Popularity is a poor tiebreaker. Our rule of thumb is to choose by whoever will use the system most. When that is staff editing records, Django's built-in admin puts working screens in front of them early. When it is other software calling yours, FastAPI's request checking and generated documentation pay off faster.

Django, FastAPI and Flask compared: what each gives you before extra code, where it fits, what to watch for, and its share of respondents in Stack Overflow's 2025 survey

§ 03 · version check

Is your Python system still getting security fixes?

Run this check before you ask anyone to quote work on an existing Python system; it takes a minute. The Python developer guide lists the date each Python release stops receiving fixes, and Django's download page does the same for each Django release. Both were read on 13 October 2026.

Security support end dates for Python and Django releases, and where each stood on 13 October 2026, from the Python developer guide and the Django download page
ReleaseSecurity fixes endOn 13 October 2026
Python 2.71 January 2020Ended. The Python team said it would not fix Python 2 even for a security problem.
Python 3.931 October 2025Ended
Python 3.101 October 2026Ended twelve days before this page was published
Python 3.11, 3.12 and 3.13October 2027, October 2028 and October 2029Security fixes only
Python 3.14October 2030Bug fixes and security fixes
Django 4.2 LTS7 April 2026Ended
Django 5.2 LTSApril 2028Supported, the current long-term release
Django 6.1December 2027Supported, the newest feature release

Read down the table and one finding stands out that buyers rarely hear in a sales call. A Django app started in 2023 on that year's long-term release, 4.2, stopped receiving security fixes on 7 April 2026. If it also runs on Python 3.10, the interpreter underneath stopped on 1 October 2026. Two support dates passed in one year, and neither one broke anything you would notice.

That is why, on a system in that state, the upgrade belongs in the first scope, ahead of any new feature. Django's own upgrade guide says moving one feature release at a time is usually easier than jumping several at once, and it recommends the same steps from one long-term release to the next. Budget the upkeep that follows with our software maintenance cost calculator.

§ 04 · fit

When Python is the right language, and when it is not

Language choice matters less than vendors suggest, but a few cases are clear. Python is the strong pick for the first list below and the wrong default for the second.

Choose Python for

  • Work on data: imports, cleaning, scheduled reports and anything a spreadsheet does too slowly.
  • AI features: Stack Overflow's 2025 survey links Python's rise to its role as the go-to language for AI and data science.
  • APIs and the jobs behind them, which is the use FastAPI was built for.
  • Internal tools over a database, where Django's admin gives staff working screens without each one being designed by hand.

Choose something else for

  • Phone apps: we build mobile apps in React Native by default, with a Python API behind them when the data work needs it.
  • What runs in the browser: that is JavaScript or TypeScript whatever the backend is, which is why our web front ends are Next.js and React.
  • A team that already runs everything in Node.js or PHP: a second backend language means a second hiring pool. Unless the work is data or AI, stay with the language your developers already maintain.
§ 05 · proof

What we can show you, and what we cannot yet

We have not published a Python case study yet, so this page names no Python client and quotes no Python result. We would rather say that plainly than borrow a number from someone else's project.

What you can check today: clients rate our work 5.0 on Clutch from 66 verified reviews (checked 13 October 2026). Three custom builds we show with client permission, Planivo, SpeedyPrint and AirTrainr, are described on our custom software development company page. None of them is presented here as Python work.

Book a scoping call and we will sign a one-page mutual NDA, then take you through past client work. Judge the people who would write your code in that session, not the slides.

§ 06 · engagement

Hire Python developers or hand us the whole build

The right route depends mostly on whether you already have engineers of your own to direct the work.

  • Python developers inside your team: you interview them and run your own security checks, and typically inside two weeks they are committing to your repository and sitting in your standups. Read how hiring software developers through us works.
  • A dedicated Python team: a lead with engineers and QA, taking a share of your roadmap on a monthly bill; most teams stay a quarter or longer. More on dedicated development teams.
  • A fixed-bid build: a single price for a written scope, set after a two-week discovery sprint that may instead recommend buying a product.
  • A retainer after launch: a named team for fixes, upgrades and new integrations once the system is live. Our floor for a retainer is one senior engineer and one designer.
§ 07 · cost

What Python work costs in 2026

Start with the market rate for one person. Arc, a hiring marketplace, puts the worldwide average for freelance Python developers at $61 to $80 an hour on its Python rate page, read on 13 October 2026. That buys one developer's hours, without QA or a lead who answers for the result.

A whole system is priced by scope instead. Expect $40,000 to $150,000 for a focused first version of custom software and $250,000 to $500,000 or more for a complex enterprise platform; scope, integrations, security and data migration decide where yours lands. Python itself rarely moves the figure, while the number of systems it has to talk to usually does.

We do not print a Python rate card. A free 30-minute call comes first, the written scope and quote follow within 48 hours, and a fixed build price follows the discovery sprint. For a rough figure first, our software development cost calculator works from hours and a blended rate, and the quote checker turns any quote you receive into an implied hourly rate.

§ 08 · process

How a Python build runs, from call to handover

  1. The call. A free 30-minute call, booked at least five days out so the discovery lead can first read your product, and the repository if you share it.
  2. Discovery, two weeks. Workshops with the people who will use the system, a map of every tool the code must talk to, a risk register, and a record of each architecture decision, priced as a separate piece of work.
  3. Architecture. Our CTO, Divyansh Singh, owns the architecture on every build, including the call on what we write and what you buy.
  4. Sprints of one to two weeks. Every week you get a recording of the working code being demonstrated, plus a short list of what shipped and what slipped. No demo that week means no invoice for that week.
  5. Testing and release. Every build passes our QA team before you see it, and before anything reaches production there is an automated test run and a tested way back to the previous version.
  6. Support or handover. A named team keeps the system running, or your own team takes over with architecture documentation, operating runbooks and a knowledge transfer session.
§ 09 · before you sign

Your code, your accounts, and the hours we answer

From the first sprint, the code lives in repositories you own and runs in cloud accounts you pay for; our engineers are guests there, and you can revoke their access whenever you choose. On full payment, our MSA assigns you everything made for your project, while general-purpose code we wrote before it, or for reuse across clients, stays ours.

We are headquartered in New York. A message sent between 9 AM and 6 PM Eastern on a weekday gets an answer from the New York team that day, and engineering in Delhi and Lucknow keeps hours that face New York. Delhi and Sydney share the out-of-hours cover for anything broken in production. A contract that requires US-based engineers rules us out, and we would rather you knew now.

No SOC 2 or ISO 27001 report is claimed on this page. In the systems we build, API keys and passwords live on the server, out of the browser's reach, and who may read which record is decided by row-level security in PostgreSQL, not just by which buttons a screen shows.

Ask every vendor how it tracks vulnerable Python packages: pip-audit, maintained under the Python Packaging Authority, checks an environment against the Python Packaging Advisory Database.

§ 10 · comparing vendors

Five questions to put to any Python vendor

Send the same brief to every firm on your list, then compare the written answers to these five side by side. If you have no brief yet, our free requirements document generator makes one.

  1. Which Python and Django releases will the code start on, and when does each lose security fixes?
  2. Who sets the architecture, by name, and will that person join your calls?
  3. How are packages pinned and checked for known vulnerabilities, and how often?
  4. Which automated tests ship with the code, and do they run before every release?
  5. Where does the code live during the build, and what do you hold at the end?

This page already gives our answers to questions 2 and 5, in the process and the ownership terms. Put the other three to us on the call and ask for the answers as clauses in the statement of work: our own terms say a promise made in a sales call binds nobody until it appears in a signed MSA or SOW.

§ 11 · questions

Quick answers on rates, demand and Python frameworks

How much does it cost to hire a Python developer?

Freelance Python developers average $61 to $80 an hour worldwide, according to Arc's rate page (read 13 October 2026). A whole system is priced by scope instead: a focused first version of custom software typically costs $40,000 to $150,000.

Is Python still in demand in 2026?

Yes. In Stack Overflow's 2025 Developer Survey, 57.9 percent of respondents had done extensive work in Python over the past year, up seven percentage points on 2024, a rise the survey ties to AI, data science and back-end work. FastAPI, a Python framework for building APIs, gained five points among web frameworks in the same survey.

Will AI replace Python devs?

Not on the evidence so far. In Stack Overflow's 2025 survey, 84 percent of respondents used or planned to use AI tools, yet 46 percent distrusted their accuracy against 33 percent who trusted it, and 66 percent were frustrated by answers that are almost right. AI makes writing code faster; someone still has to read it, test it and answer for it.

Which Python framework should my project use?

Decide by who uses the system most. Staff editing records points to Django and its admin; other software calling yours points to FastAPI, which checks every request and documents the API. Flask suits a small service with few screens. The framework table compares all three.

Can you take over a Python system another team built?

Yes. Share the repository when you book, so the discovery lead can read it before the call. Check its Python and Django releases against the support dates above first: if either has lost security fixes, the upgrade usually comes before any new feature, one release at a time.

How quickly can a Python developer join our team?

Typically inside two weeks for a developer placed in your team, once they pass your interview and security checks. A dedicated team of a lead, engineers and QA is billed monthly, normally for a quarter or more, and a fixed-bid build opens with a two-week discovery sprint.

Who owns the Python code you write for us?

You do, once the final invoice is paid: our MSA assigns you the code, designs and assets made for your project, and the repositories sit in your name throughout. Tell us in writing if the project must stay out of our portfolio, and it will.

Do your Python developers work US hours?

They work hours that face New York from our Delhi and Lucknow offices, and the New York headquarters answers weekday messages sent between 9 AM and 6 PM Eastern on the same day. Outside those hours, Delhi and Sydney cover production problems, and someone picks up an out-of-hours message within one to two hours.
