Why remove backgrounds in the browser?

Most “free” background removers upload your photos to their servers and cap you at a handful of images. This tool runs the cut-out model directly on your machine, completely private, no watermark, no limit, and it keeps working offline once the engine is cached. Transparent-PNG export and solid-colour backgrounds are all free.

Four steps, no signup.

  1. Drag an image onto the drop zone, or click it to browse for a JPG, PNG or WebP. It never leaves your device.
  2. Pick a background, transparent, white, black, moss, amber or a custom hex colour.
  3. Click Remove background. The first run downloads a one-time AI engine, then everything runs locally.
  4. Download the PNG. The original filename is preserved with a -no-bg suffix.

Is the Background Remover free?
Yes, completely free for everyone. No sign-up, no account, no watermark and no usage limits.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. The AI model runs entirely in your browser on your own device, so your photos never leave your computer and nothing is sent to a server.
Why does the first run take a moment?
The first time you remove a background, your browser downloads a one-time AI engine of about 40 MB. It is cached afterwards, so every later run is fast and works even offline.
What formats can I use, and what do I get back?
You can drop a JPG, PNG or WebP. The result is always a PNG, transparent if you leave the background empty, or composited onto the solid colour you pick.
Can I change the background colour after removing it?
Yes. Once the cut-out exists, switching between transparent, the preset colours or a custom hex re-composites instantly without re-running the AI, so it is effectively free.
Does removing the background work on any subject?
It works best on clear subjects, people, products, animals or objects with defined edges. Very fine hair, glass or heavy motion blur can be harder, as with any automatic cut-out.
