A QR code is just a compact way to hand a phone some data, a URL, a Wi-Fi login, an email address, a phone number or plain text. This tool builds the standard QR matrix locally in your browser and paints it to a canvas, so the payload never leaves your computer. Pick a content type, fill in the fields, and tune the look: choose colors that match your brand, raise the error-correction level so the code still scans with a logo dropped in the middle, and set the export size for print or screen. Download a crisp PNG for anything raster, or a razor-sharp SVG for large-format print. No account, no expiry, no tracking redirect, the code encodes your data directly and keeps working forever.

How to use the QR Code Generator

This generator makes a static QR code for a link, text, a Wi-Fi network, an email or a phone number. It formats your entry the way phone cameras expect, builds the code in your browser and draws it live as you type, with your colors, size and optional logo. Download it as a PNG for screens or an SVG for print.

Step by step

  1. Pick a content type

    Choose Link, Text, Wi-Fi, Email or Phone. Each one shows its own fields. Switching type clears what you typed in the previous type's fields.

  2. Fill in the fields

    For Link, enter the URL (it starts filled with an example). For Wi-Fi, enter the Network name (SSID), the Password and the Security type: WPA, WEP or nopass for an open network. For Email, enter the Email address and an optional subject. For Phone, enter the number; spaces are removed.

  3. Set error correction and size

    Error correction starts at Medium. Choose High (logo-safe) if you will add a logo or the code may get scuffed. Drag Size from 128 to 1024 pixels; the default is 512.

  4. Choose colors

    Set the Foreground and Background colors, or click one of the quick colors. Tick Transparent bg to leave the background empty in both downloads.

  5. Add a logo if you want one

    Click Add a logo or drop a PNG, SVG or JPG on it. The logo is placed in the middle at one fifth of the code's width, on a small plain box. Use Remove logo to take it off.

  6. Download

    Press Download PNG to save qr-code.png, or SVG to save qr-code.svg, a vector file that stays sharp at any print size.

Reading the result

  • The preview is the code you will download. It redraws on every change, so scan it with your phone camera before you save it.
  • The PNG is close to the chosen size, rounded down so each square is a whole number of pixels, and includes a blank border four squares wide that scanners need.
  • The SVG has the same code, colors and border, but it does not include the center logo. Add the logo in your design app, or use the PNG.
  • A Wi-Fi code offers to join the network when scanned, an Email code opens a new message to that address with the subject filled in, and a Phone code offers to call the number.

Tips and common mistakes

  • If a message says Too much data for one QR, the preview still shows the last code that fit. Shorten the content, or lower the error correction, before you download.
  • Keep a dark foreground on a light background with strong contrast. Pale or inverted codes fail on many phone cameras.
  • A Wi-Fi network name or password that contains a semicolon, comma, colon, backslash or double quote may not work, because those characters are written into the code as typed. Test the code on a phone before you print it.
  • The codes are static. Changing the link later means printing a new code, so check the URL carefully first.
  • Longer content makes a denser code. Short links scan more reliably at small print sizes.

Privacy and limits

The code is built in your browser, and any logo you add is read from your device. Nothing you type, including a Wi-Fi password, is uploaded or saved, so the fields reset when you reload the page. The codes contain your data directly: no redirect, no tracking and nothing that expires.

Frequently asked questions.

Is the QR Code Generator free?
Yes, completely free for everyone, including the center logo and SVG export. No sign-up, no account and no usage limits.
Do the QR codes expire or track scans?
No. These are static QR codes that encode your data directly, there is no redirect, no short link and no analytics in the middle. They keep working forever and can't be disabled by us.
Is it private? Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No upload, ever. The QR matrix is built in your browser and any logo you add is read locally, your links, Wi-Fi passwords and images never leave your device.
Why does my QR code stop scanning after I add a logo?
A center logo covers data modules. Set the error-correction level to High so the code carries enough redundancy to recover the covered area, keep the logo small, and use high contrast between foreground and background.
Should I download PNG or SVG?
Use PNG for screens, slides and social. Use SVG for print, packaging or signage, it's a vector, so it stays razor-sharp at any size. (The center-logo overlay is baked into the PNG only.)
What content types can I encode?
A URL, plain text, Wi-Fi credentials (SSID, password and security type), an email address with an optional subject, or a phone number. Each type formats the payload correctly so standard scanners recognise it.
