Why record in the browser?
Most “free” screen recorders install software or upload your footage to their servers. This tool uses your browser’s built-in MediaRecorder and Screen Capture APIs, so the entire recording stays on your device — private, install-free and free forever. Choose whether to include your microphone, pause and resume without splitting the clip, then preview and save a .webm video.

Five steps, no install.
- Tick Include microphone first if you want to narrate over the recording.
- Click Start recording and choose the screen, window or browser tab to capture.
- Use Pause and Resume at any time — the timer pauses with the clip.
- Click Stop when you’re done. Your clip appears below, ready to preview.
- Click Download .webm to save the file, or Record again to start over.

Is the Screen Recorder free?
Yes — completely free for everyone. No sign-up, no account and no usage limits.
Is it private? Are my recordings uploaded anywhere?
No upload, ever. The recorder runs entirely in your browser on your own device, so your footage never leaves your computer — nothing is sent to a server.
Which browsers does it work in?
Any modern desktop browser that supports the Screen Capture API — the latest Chrome, Edge and Firefox all work. Screen recording isn’t available on most mobile browsers.
Can I record my voice along with the screen?
Yes. Tick Include microphone before you start, and the tool mixes your mic with the shared window’s system audio into a single track. If you skip it, only the screen’s system audio is captured.
What file format do I get?
A .webm video (VP9 or VP8 with Opus audio, depending on your browser). It plays in modern browsers and most media players, and can be converted to MP4 with any standard video tool if you need it.
