Your first conversion downloads a one-time audio engine (~25 MB) from a public CDN; after that it runs entirely on your machine. The media itself is never uploaded.

Why convert audio in the browser?

Most free “video to MP3” sites upload your file to their servers. This tool runs a WebAssembly build of FFmpeg directly in your browser, so your media is processed on your own machine and never leaves it. The engine downloads once, then works offline. If MP3 is unavailable in your browser build, WAV and M4A always work , the tool tells you and you can switch with one click.

Five steps, no upload.

  1. Drag and drop your video or audio file onto the upload area, or click to browse. Your file never leaves your device.
  2. Pick your output format , MP3, WAV, M4A/AAC, or an instant Original copy.
  3. Set the bitrate if you chose MP3 or M4A , higher for quality, lower for a smaller file.
  4. Click Extract and wait a few seconds. The first run downloads the audio engine once (about 25 MB).
  5. Preview the result in the player, then click Download to save it.

Frequently asked questions.

Is the Video to MP3 / Audio tool free?
Yes , completely free for everyone. No sign-up, no account and no usage limits.
Is it private? Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser on your own device using a WebAssembly build of FFmpeg, so your media never leaves your computer and nothing is uploaded to a server.
Why does it download an engine the first time?
The audio engine is a one-time ~25 MB WebAssembly build of FFmpeg loaded from a public CDN. Your browser caches it after the first conversion, so later conversions run instantly and offline. Only the engine is fetched , your file is never sent anywhere.
What formats can I export?
MP3 (96-320 kbps), WAV (lossless 16-bit PCM), M4A/AAC, or a direct lossless copy of the original audio track. You can also drop in an existing MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG or OPUS file and convert it to another format.
MP3 didn’t work , what should I do?
Some browser engine builds ship without the MP3 encoder. If MP3 fails, switch the output format to WAV or M4A/AAC , those always work. For files with a separate audio track, the “Original (fast)” option copies it out losslessly and instantly.
Is there a file-size or length limit?
There’s no imposed limit. Because processing happens in your browser’s memory, the practical ceiling is your device’s available RAM , very large videos may be slow or run out of memory on low-end machines.
