To hire a Flutter developer in India through Digital Heroes, book a 30-minute call about the app and its codebase. Within 48 hours you get a written scope that names who would do the work. Sign, and the developer starts within 24 hours, on the next working day. Every Flutter developer we place is already on our team, and the code, store accounts and signing keys stay in your company's name.
What comes with a Flutter developer from Digital Heroes
The developer is someone who writes Dart on our team today, not a profile found on a marketplace once your contract is signed. They work in your repository, join your standups and put builds on your test phones. The written scope comes first, so both sides agree what the opening weeks are for before a line of code is written.
Flutter apps rarely fail in the Dart. They fail at the edges: a feature that needs Swift on iPhone or Kotlin on Android behind a platform channel, or a release that has to clear two app stores. So the developer does not work alone. Native iOS developers in Swift and native Android developers in Kotlin sit on the same in-house team, and Node.js and Python developers cover the API.
Part of every Flutter hire
| Item | What it means in practice |
|---|---|
| A Flutter developer from our team | Working in Flutter and Dart now, rather than recruited for your contract |
| Native colleagues | Swift and Kotlin developers on the same team for the platform side of a plugin |
| A written scope in 48 hours | What the developer works on first, how you will judge it, and who the developer is |
| A 24-hour start | The next working day after the contract is signed |
| A one-page mutual NDA | Signed after you book the scoping call, so designs and code are shared under it |
| Your code, keys and store accounts | Held by your company, with our developer added as a member whose access you control |
The stack around a Flutter hire
- Flutter and Dart for the app itself on iOS and Android, with web and desktop builds where they make sense.
- Swift and Kotlin for the native half of a plugin or platform channel, from our iOS and Android developers.
- Node.js and Python for the API the app talks to, when you do not have one yet.
- PostgreSQL on Supabase, the backend we run in production for the live chat on this site.
Is a Flutter developer the right hire for your app?
Hire for the codebase you have, or the one you are about to start. If the app is already written in Flutter, the question is settled: you need someone fluent in Dart and in the plugins your app depends on. If nothing is built yet, Flutter is one of three sound routes, and which one fits depends on what the app has to do on the phone.
One thing to know before the call. Our CTO, Divyansh Singh, set React Native as the team's default for new apps that run on both iOS and Android. We place Flutter developers with teams that run Flutter today or have a reason to choose it, and when React Native or native code suits a new app better, we tell you on the call instead of staffing the wrong stack.
| Your situation | Hire | Why | Read more |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your app already ships in Flutter | A Flutter developer | The Dart code, the widget tree and the pinned plugins are what the new person reads on day one | Flutter development |
| A new app for both stores with its own visual design | A Flutter or a React Native developer | Flutter draws every widget itself, so a custom design renders alike on both platforms; React Native suits a team that already writes React | React Native development |
| The value sits in HealthKit, CarPlay, home screen widgets or ARKit | A native Swift or Kotlin developer | Most of the work would pass through platform channels, so shared Dart code saves little | iOS or Android |
| A public website that has to be found in search | A web developer, not Flutter | Flutter on the web suits signed-in tools and dashboards, not pages that need to rank | Web development |
| An internal tool for phones, tablets and office desktops | A Flutter developer | One codebase can build for iOS, Android, Windows, macOS and the web | Flutter targets |
For the framework itself, from state management to platform channels and performance targets, read our Flutter development page. Our guide to Flutter vs React Native puts the two cross-platform options next to each other, and if you need a Swift, Kotlin or React Native developer instead, our page on hiring mobile app developers covers all four stacks.
What it costs to hire Flutter developers in India, salary against rate
Two different numbers get quoted as the cost of a Flutter developer in India: the salary the developer earns, and the rate a client pays. They differ by a multiple, and mixing them up is how hiring budgets go wrong. Every figure below comes from a public source read on 17 October 2026, converted at about ₹95 to the US dollar using the European Central Bank's reference rates for 16 October.
Salaries first. AmbitionBox puts the typical Flutter developer salary in India at ₹5.4 lakh to ₹6 lakh a year for up to five years of experience, about $5,700 to $6,300, from roughly 11,900 reported salaries. Glassdoor gives an average of ₹5,00,000 a year, or ₹240 an hour, from 1,212 salaries, with its 90th percentile at ₹15,40,000.
Rates next. Upwork's page for Flutter developers in India gives typical freelance rates of $11 to $20 an hour, against a US baseline of $31 to $50 for the same role. At 160 hours a month, the India band is $1,760 to $3,200 for one full-time freelancer. Upwork adds that developers fluent in BLoC or Riverpod tend to charge more than those building simple widget layouts.
Why a rate sits several times above a salary: the client's rate also pays for the employer's costs, the weeks between projects, someone who reviews the code, a replacement when a person leaves, and the firm's margin. When a quote lands close to the salary figure, one of those has been left out, and the missing piece is usually review or cover.
Salary and rate figures side by side
| Source and level | Figure | What it measures |
|---|---|---|
| AmbitionBox, under 1 year | ₹2.9 lakh to ₹3.2 lakh a year | Salaries reported by employees in India |
| AmbitionBox, 1 to 3 years | ₹3.9 lakh to ₹4.3 lakh a year | The band with the most reports, about 7,000 |
| AmbitionBox, 3 to 6 years | ₹6.8 to ₹7.5 lakh a year | Mid-level developers, about $7,200 to $7,900 |
| Glassdoor, all levels | ₹5,00,000 a year on average; ₹3,48,000 to ₹8,40,000 for the middle half | 1,212 salaries submitted to Glassdoor |
| Upwork, freelancers in India | $11 to $20 an hour | Typical freelance rates on the marketplace |
| Upwork, US baseline | $31 to $50 an hour | The US comparison Upwork gives for the same role |
AmbitionBox's city bands differ too: Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru report more than New Delhi and Chennai. We do not print a rate card. A Flutter developer from us is quoted per engineer, per month, after the call, once the hours, the seniority and the overlap you need are known, and that quote can be checked against every number on this page.
Two free tools help with that check. The offshore development cost calculator runs your hours through offshore, nearshore and US rate bands, and the quote checker turns any vendor's total into an implied hourly rate.
Pricing a whole Flutter app rather than a developer's month? Hours come from the scope, and India lowers the price of each hour, not the count. Our mobile app cost calculator prices one native platform at $40,000 to $80,000 for a focused first version, three to five months, and $90,000 to $180,000 for a mid-complexity business app, five to eight months. Flutter or React Native multiplies that by 1.1x to 1.3x: about $44,000 to $104,000 and $99,000 to $234,000.
One caution that is specific to Flutter: a shared codebase saves work on the screens, not on everything around them. You still need both store accounts, a set of real Android phones from more than one maker, and a named person who owns signing and release, whatever framework the app is written in.
Five ways to bring in Flutter work, and the three we offer
Most hiring pages sell Flutter developers by the hour, part time or full time. The more useful split is who directs the work and who answers when it slips. The first two rows are routes you would take without us. The last three are the ways we work, and each one has a case where it is the wrong choice.
| Route | Who directs it | How it is paid | Start | Does not fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Marketplace freelancer | You | Hourly or by milestone, through the marketplace | Once they accept your contract | Work that also needs native code, QA and store release |
| Your own employee in India | Your engineering lead | Salary, through an Indian company or an employer of record | After the search and their notice period | A short project, or a company with no legal presence in India |
| Our Flutter developer in your team | Your product or engineering lead | Per engineer, per month | Within 24 hours of signing | A team with nobody to review a pull request |
| Our dedicated Flutter team | Our lead, against your roadmap | Monthly, for a lead, developers and QA | One to three weeks to assemble | One small feature with a clear end |
| Our fixed-scope Flutter build | Our team, against a written scope | One price, set after a two-week discovery sprint priced on its own | After discovery | A product whose scope still changes every week |
Torn between the third and fourth rows? Ask who on your side will review a pull request this week. If nobody can, take the dedicated team, where our lead answers for the work and our QA team tests each build before you see it; our dedicated development team page covers that model in full. The discovery sprint behind the fifth row can also end in advice to buy a product that already does the job.
Six steps from the first call to a Flutter developer at work
The 24-hour start is a promise about the fifth step, so the steps before it decide how soon you get there. Each one ends in something you can check before the next begins.
- Book a call. Thirty minutes, free, about the app, the state of the codebase and the hours you need covered.
- Read the written scope. It arrives within 48 hours of the call: what the developer works on first, how you will judge it, and who the developer is.
- Talk to the developer. Ask for a call with the person who would join your project, and put the questions in section 07 to them before anything is signed.
- Sign. The MSA names the company you contract with and the statement of work names the work; the mutual NDA is already in place from the scoping stage.
- Start within 24 hours. The developer begins on the next working day, so have the repository, the design files and both store consoles ready to share.
- Review on day 14. A written note on what shipped and what got in the way, so week three starts from facts rather than impressions.
What the developer does in the first two weeks
A Flutter project carries more setup than most: a pinned Flutter and Dart version, a build flavor for each environment, Firebase or other config files per flavor, and signing for two stores. The first fortnight proves that all of it works in the new developer's hands before a large feature depends on it.
- Days 1 and 2, every flavor builds. The developer runs
flutter doctor, matches the versions the project pins, and runs each flavor on a real iPhone and a real Android phone. Anything missing, from a config file to a test login, goes on a list that day. - Days 3 to 5, a health check and one fix. A
flutter analyzereport, the outdated and unmaintained packages fromflutter pub outdated, and one small ticket taken all the way to TestFlight and Google Play internal testing. - Week 2, the first feature. One backlog item cut to fit the week, with widget tests for its screens and unit tests for its logic, checked in profile mode on a mid-range Android phone rather than in debug mode.
- Day 14, the note. What shipped, which plugins carry risk, and what the developer would change in the build setup, written down for your lead.
If your app was written before May 2023, check one thing in the first days. Dart has enforced sound null safety since Dart 3, so code that never migrated will not build on a current SDK, and the migration becomes the first piece of work. Flutter's own documentation also says performance is judged in profile mode, because a debug build does not show release behaviour.
How to interview a Flutter developer, ours or anyone's
Most of the risk in a Flutter app sits outside the widget tree: code that talks to the phone itself, the trip through both app stores, real devices and the next Flutter upgrade. Ask about those, and listen for a named app, a named failure and what changed afterwards. Put the same questions to every candidate, the one we propose included, and compare the answers side by side.
| Area | Ask | A strong answer | A warning sign |
|---|---|---|---|
| State | "Which approach did you pick on your last app, and where did it hurt?" | Riverpod, BLoC or Provider with a reason, and business logic tested without building widgets | Global controllers everywhere and no tests for the logic |
| Native code | "Which feature in your last app needed code outside Dart, and how did Dart reach it?" | A named feature, such as a payment SDK or a Bluetooth device, reached through a platform channel or a plugin they wrote, and checked on both iPhone and Android | Never needed anything a published package did not already cover |
| Broken packages | "A package you rely on stops building after a Flutter upgrade. What do you do first?" | Read its issue tracker and changelog, hold the last working version, report the fault with a small reproduction, and patch a fork only when the fix is small and someone will own it | Roll Flutter back and wait for the author |
| Performance | "Tell me about jank you fixed." | Measured in profile mode with DevTools; rebuilds narrowed; first-run animation stutter handled by Impeller, the default renderer | Judged by eye in a debug build |
| Release | "Walk me through a release to both stores." | Version and build numbers, flavors, the upload keystore kept out of source control, Play App Signing, TestFlight, a staged rollout | "Someone else handled that part" |
| Testing | "What do you test, and on which devices?" | Unit tests on logic, widget tests on screens, integration tests on real phones from more than one Android maker | Simulators and emulators only |
| Upgrades | "How do you bring an app two Flutter versions behind up to date?" | Read the breaking changes, upgrade on a branch, run analyze and the tests, then every flavor on devices | Upgrade on the main branch and see what breaks |
Then set one short paid task instead of a long take-home: about three hours on a small app you supply, with two planted faults. One screen stutters because it parses a large JSON file on the main isolate, which Flutter's guide to parsing in the background shows how to move off; one form discards what the user typed when validation fails. Ask for both fixed, a test for each, and a note on how they found the cause.
Five warning signs in a Flutter candidate
- No idea how crashes were found. Someone who has shipped can say how they learned the app was crashing after launch: Firebase Crashlytics, Sentry or the stores' own consoles. No answer means nobody was watching.
- No plan for a phone with no signal. Ask what a user sees on a train with no connection. A shrug usually means every screen shows a spinner until the network returns.
- Secret keys built into the app. Anything compiled into a released app can be read back out of it, so keys for paid services belong on a server the app calls. Ask where theirs lived.
- Accessibility never tried. Ask whether they have used their app with VoiceOver or TalkBack, or at the largest text size. Layouts that overflow at large text are common, and cheap to catch before launch.
- Your app in their accounts. A developer who builds on their own Apple account or Firebase project leaves your app in someone else's hands when the contract ends.
Who the developer is, and what this page cannot show yet
Flutter is one of four mobile stacks covered by developers already on our team, beside native iOS in Swift, native Android in Kotlin and React Native. Nobody is recruited after you sign. This page names no individual developer and gives no headcount for the Flutter bench; the person proposed for your project is named in the written scope.
Engineering works from Delhi and Lucknow, and some of our iOS and Android engineers sit in Sydney. Delhi is the engineering headquarters, mobile included, and production emergencies are covered around the clock from Delhi and Sydney. Engineering answers to our CTO, Divyansh Singh, who owns the architecture and the engineering standard.
What we cannot show: this page names no Flutter client app, because we have none cleared to publish. The mobile build we can show, the athlete and trainer apps for AirTrainr, is React Native with Expo on Supabase, so it speaks to our mobile delivery rather than to Flutter. Ask the developer to walk you through Flutter code and store listings they shipped, as you would with any candidate.
Some things you can check without asking us. Clutch shows 5.0 from 66 verified reviews (checked 13 October 2026). Dun & Bradstreet holds DUNS number 650878346 for the company, and UNGM, the procurement registry UN organisations use, lists it as a Tier 1 supplier. Our custom software development company page lists the legal entities and offices, with a way to verify each.
Working hours, contracts and who holds the signing keys
India runs on one clock, Indian Standard Time at UTC+05:30, with no daylight saving. New York is nine and a half hours behind it while US daylight time runs, from March to early November, and ten and a half hours behind in winter. A 9:00 AM Eastern standup therefore lands at 6:30 PM or 7:30 PM in Delhi, and our Delhi and Lucknow engineers keep hours that face New York.
Write the daily overlap into the statement of work as a window of hours, not a promise of availability. The New York office answers the same day between 9 AM and 6 PM Eastern on weekdays, and the free time zone planner shows the shared hours for your own city.
Your MSA names the company you sign with: Digital Heroes Technologies Pvt Ltd in India, or Digital Heroesco LLC in the US, usually under New York law for US work. You can ask for the standard MSA before committing to anything, and reasonable amendments are agreed before signing. If the app will touch patient records, we sign a BAA whenever our team handles PHI.
The MSA assigns you everything made for your project once the final invoice is paid; we keep only tooling that existed before it or was built for reuse. For a Flutter app, ownership also means four accounts in your company's name: the Git repository, the Apple Developer account, the Play Console account and the Firebase or backend project, each with our developer added as a member.
Then the keys. Android uses an upload key and a separate app signing key, and Flutter's Android release guide says to create the app signing key through Play App Signing and to keep the upload keystore and its key.properties file out of public source control. Hold the keystore in your company's password vault rather than on one laptop, and the iOS certificates under your Apple account.
Four cases where we would not place a Flutter developer
Saying no on the first call costs us less than a developer placed on the wrong project, so here are the cases where we would point you somewhere else.
- A rule that every engineer is US-based. Our developers work in India and Australia, so a contract or security policy with that requirement rules us out.
- An app that lives in CarPlay, HealthKit or AR. Hire native developers, ours or anyone's; Flutter would add a layer you spend the budget bridging.
- A decision made on the hourly rate alone. A marketplace freelancer at $11 to $20 an hour will beat any firm on that number, and for a small job with a clear end it can be the right choice.
- An idea nobody has asked for yet. Test it before paying for code; the free app idea validator scores an idea on six dimensions.
If none of those four describes you, book the call and bring a link to the repository if one exists.

Quick answers on salaries, rates and starting dates
What is Flutter developer salary in India?
AmbitionBox puts the typical Flutter developer salary in India at ₹5.4 lakh to ₹6 lakh a year for up to five years of experience, about $5,700 to $6,300, and Glassdoor's average is ₹5,00,000. AmbitionBox reports ₹2.9 lakh to ₹3.2 lakh in the first year and ₹6.8 lakh to ₹7.5 lakh at three to six years. Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru pay more. A salary is not what a client pays; rates run several times higher.
How much does it cost to hire a developer in India?
For a Flutter developer, Upwork lists typical freelance rates in India of $11 to $20 an hour, against a US baseline of $31 to $50. At 160 hours a month, that is $1,760 to $3,200 for one full-time freelancer. Firms quote more, because their rate also covers code review, testing, cover when someone leaves and a margin. We quote per engineer, per month, after a call.
Is Flutter in demand in India?
Yes, on the public evidence. On 17 October 2026, Indeed India listed 767 Flutter developer openings, LinkedIn showed more than 1,000 Flutter developer jobs in India, and AmbitionBox held about 11,900 reported Flutter salaries. Demand for the framework is not the same as depth, though: developers who have shipped platform channels and store releases are a smaller group, which is why the interview matters more than the CV.
Is Flutter still worth it in 2026?
For an app that ships to both stores with its own design, yes. Flutter 3.47 is the current release, Impeller is the default renderer on iOS and on Android API 29 and later, and Dart has enforced sound null safety since Dart 3. Dart is still a smaller pool: 6.1 percent of professional developers in Stack Overflow's 2025 survey. It is the weaker choice when the app lives in platform features, or when your team already writes React.
Will AI replace Flutter developers?
Not on current evidence. In Stack Overflow's 2025 survey, 84 percent of respondents used or planned to use AI tools, yet more distrusted the accuracy of the output (46 percent) than trusted it (33 percent). The parts of a Flutter app that break, the native boundary, signing and bugs that appear only on real phones, still need a person who answers for them. Ask any candidate which tests check the code an AI tool writes.
How much does it cost to develop a Flutter app?
Scope decides it more than the framework does. Our mobile app cost calculator starts a focused first version on one native platform at $40,000 to $80,000 and a mid-complexity business app at $90,000 to $180,000, then applies 1.1x to 1.3x for Flutter: about $44,000 to $104,000 over three to five months, and $99,000 to $234,000 over five to eight. Flutter saves you building the screens twice, not the backend, the store work or testing on real phones.
How quickly can a Flutter developer start?
Within 24 hours of signing, which means the next working day. The written scope arrives within 48 hours of the first call, so the time between the call and the first commit depends mainly on how fast the contract is signed. Have the repository, the design files, both store consoles and each flavor's config files ready, because the first day goes on access and a clean build.
How many working hours overlap with the US?
As many as the statement of work fixes, so agree them in writing. India stays on UTC+05:30 all year, nine and a half hours ahead of New York during US daylight time and ten and a half in winter. Our engineers in Delhi and Lucknow keep hours that face New York, and the New York office answers the same day, 9 AM to 6 PM Eastern on weekdays.
Who owns the code, the signing keys and the store listings?
You do. Our MSA assigns you what is written for your project on full payment, and we keep only tooling that predates it. Keep the repository, the Apple Developer and Play Console accounts and the Firebase project in your company's name, hold the Android upload keystore in your own vault, and add our developer as a member whose access you can revoke.
Can the same Flutter developer build the web and desktop versions?
Technically yes: Flutter builds for the web, Windows, macOS and Linux from the same code as the phone app. Whether you should is a product question. Flutter on the web suits signed-in tools and dashboards, and it is the wrong choice for public pages that have to rank in search. A desktop build of an internal tool can be a sensible extra.
