Hire Angular Developers in India

In-house Angular developers in India for the app you already run: version upgrades, AngularJS migrations and new features, on a monthly basis or as a fixed-scope project. Meet the developer before anything is signed. Once it is, they begin within 24 hours, and the repository stays in your company's account.

quick answer

For an Angular developer in India from Digital Heroes, send us two facts: the Angular version your app runs and what has to change in it. We propose someone from our own web team, and you interview that person. Sign, and they start the following working day, no more than 24 hours after you sign. No one is hired from outside to fill your contract, and from the first day their code goes into your company's repository.

§ 01 · what you get

What an Angular developer from us does for you

The Angular work we take on starts from an app that already exists, because we build in Angular when a client's system already runs on it. That app might be a customer portal stuck on an old major version, an admin console grown to hundreds of forms, or an AngularJS screen set that still runs the billing desk. The developer you hire here is one of the people who do that work.

New products are the exception. Where nothing exists yet and nobody on your side prefers Angular, we usually build web apps on Next.js and React, and that is what we will recommend when we first speak, not a pitch for whichever stack the page you landed on names. Where your company has standardized on Angular, a new app joins that estate in Angular, so your teams keep one way of building screens.

Five kinds of Angular work, and what you hold at the end

The jobs an Angular developer from Digital Heroes takes on, what the work involves, and the result you keep
The jobWhat the developer doesWhat you hold at the end
Version upgradeMoves the app up one major version at a time with ng update, fixes what each step breaks and keeps the tests passingAn app on a supported version, with each step in its own pull request
AngularJS migrationRuns the old and new frameworks side by side, or plans a rewrite, and moves screens across in an agreed orderAn app off a framework whose support officially ended in January 2022
New featuresBuilds screens, forms and API calls inside the structure and conventions the codebase already usesFeatures merged into your main branch, reviewed by your lead or ours
Rendering performanceMoves components to OnPush and signals and readies the app for zoneless change detection, the default from Angular 21Fewer change detection runs triggered for nothing, and less code tied to zone.js
Tests and buildAdds unit tests where they are missing and makes the build and test commands run cleanly in CIA pipeline the next developer can trust before touching anything

Four terms that come with every hire

  • An interview first. You question the developer who will commit to your repository, before anything is signed.
  • Day one is the day after signing. Expect the developer to begin within 24 hours of the contract being signed.
  • A mutual NDA first. It runs to one page and is signed when you book the scoping call, so the codebase can be opened to us before any contract exists.
  • Accounts in your name. The repository, hosting and domain stay in your company's accounts, with our developer added as a member you can remove.
§ 02 · the version you run

Which Angular version you run decides the job

Before you write a job description, find out which version the app runs. A live Angular app usually prints it into the page: open the browser's developer tools and look for the ng-version attribute on the root element. The framework's own site, angular.dev, showed version 22.2.3 there when we checked on 17 October 2026. In the repository, the version of @angular/core in package.json tells you the same thing.

The number matters because Angular supports each major release for a fixed window. From version 22 the team ships one major release about every 12 months, where it used to ship one every six, and a major release is typically supported for 24 months: 12 months of active support, then 12 months of long-term support (LTS), when only critical fixes and security patches are released.

figure 1 · the three supported Angular versions and how long each has left, from angular.dev's release page on 17 October 2026

Angular updates across one major version at a time. Its release policy says that to go from 10 to 12 you update to 11 first, and each step runs ng update, whose code changes the Angular team often tests across hundreds of thousands of projects at Google before release. An app on Angular 17 is therefore five separate updates away from 22, and the developer you need is one who has walked an app through several of them.

Each update also brings a newer way to write the same code. In Angular's own guidance, standalone components are the default in version 20 and later, zoneless change detection from 21, and OnPush from 22, where Signal Forms also became stable. Angular publishes migration commands for many of these changes, including standalone components, the built-in control flow, the inject function and signal inputs, so a good developer runs those rather than rewriting files by hand.

§ 03 · angularjs

Still on AngularJS? Three ways off it

AngularJS is the name for every 1.x release, and it is a different framework from Angular 2 and later, not an older version of the same one. Its long-term support was extended to 31 December 2021 and then stopped; the project's own site now says support officially ended in January 2022. An app still on it needs a migration, and there are three honest ways to run one.

Three routes from AngularJS to a supported framework, when each fits and what to watch for
RouteHow it worksFits whenWatch for
Hybrid with ngUpgradeBoth frameworks run inside one app, and screens move to Angular one at a timeThe app is large and has to keep shipping during the moveTwo frameworks load at once, and ngUpgrade is feature complete, with fixes promised only until at least 31 December 2023
Rewrite in current AngularA new Angular app is built beside the old one and replaces it, in one cutover or module by moduleThe old code is small, or too tangled to wrapFeature work either freezes on the old app or gets built twice
Rewrite in ReactThe app is rebuilt on a different framework, such as React with Next.jsYour other products already run on React and nobody wants a second frameworkEvery screen is new code; little from AngularJS carries across

Angular's archived upgrade guide favors the incremental route for anything but the smallest apps: run the two frameworks side by side and port components one by one, so the business keeps working while the move happens. Whichever route you pick, write down the order of screens before anyone starts, and keep a count of what is left on AngularJS so the hybrid period has an end date.

The developer for this job needs to read both worlds: AngularJS scopes, controllers and directives on one side, and modern Angular components, dependency injection and the router on the other. Treat a candidate who calls the two frameworks one skill with caution, and ask about the ngUpgrade route in the interview, using the questions in section 07.

§ 04 · engagement models

One developer, a team or a fixed scope: who reviews the code

Start from one question: can anyone at your company read Angular code? If yes, a single developer working within your team is the lightest arrangement. If no, the review has to come from us, through a dedicated team or a fixed-scope project, and the monthly figure differs because more people stand behind the work.

Angular engagement options side by side: the people involved, who signs off the code, the billing basis and the case each suits
OptionPeople involvedCode signed off byBilling basisBest for
One developer in your teamAn Angular developer of ours, working in your repository, standups and sprint boardYour leadBy the monthSomeone of yours already reviews Angular pull requests
Dedicated teamOur lead, Angular developers and QA, owning one part of your productOur lead, to the priorities you setBy the month, normally three months at leastSeveral streams of work, or nobody of yours who reads Angular
Fixed-scope projectTwo weeks of discovery, then a single price for a written scope, such as reaching Angular 22Our team, to that written scopeA fixed price agreed at the end of discoveryA clear finish line, which most version upgrades have

Only one developer joining your team starts the next day. A whole team needs more time to assemble, and the dedicated development team page explains how that one works. A fixed-scope project begins with discovery, billed separately, which closes with a fixed bid for the work or a recommendation to buy a product instead.

§ 05 · cost

What Angular work in India costs, by public data

Angular work has no published rate card here. We name a monthly figure after a call, when we know the version, how big the codebase is and how many hours you need. Test any quote against the public figures below, ours included.

Upwork lists a median of $24 an hour, within a typical range of $16 to $30, for AngularJS developers on its marketplace. Its note says the figures come from historical contracts worldwide and that the final rate is negotiated with the freelancer. The page files Angular and AngularJS under one heading, so read the band as the freelance floor of the market, not as an India agency rate.

Salary data answers a different question: what an employer in India pays. PayScale puts the median base salary for people in India who list Angular as a skill at ₹1,081,885 a year, about ₹10.8 lakh, from 1,698 salary profiles in its update of 12 July 2026. The 10th percentile sits near ₹3.9 lakh and the 90th near ₹25.6 lakh.

A firm's rate sits above a salary because it also pays for the employer's costs, management, review and the time between projects. In GoodFirms' 2026 cost survey , which covered more than 100 software firms, 12.5 percent charged below $20 an hour, the band it links to South Asia including India, while 56.3 percent charged $20 to $50, the most common band. Enterprise builds ran $100 to $250 an hour.

Three public benchmarks, side by side

Rates in US dollars and salaries in rupees, each read on 17 October 2026. They measure different things, so compare like with like
SourceFigureWhat it measures
Upwork, AngularJS developers$16 to $30 an hour, median $24Freelance contracts worldwide; the final rate is negotiated
PayScale, Angular skill in India₹10.8 lakh a year, median base salaryWhat employees report being paid, from 1,698 profiles
GoodFirms, lowest bandBelow $20 an hour, charged by 12.5 percent of firmsSoftware firms in South Asia, India included
GoodFirms, commonest band$20 to $50 an hour, charged by 56.3 percent of firmsThe most common band, South Asia among its regions
GoodFirms, enterprise work$100 to $250 an hourEnterprise builds

To compare a monthly quote with an hourly figure, multiply by the hours in a working month. At 160 hours, the Upwork typical range comes to $2,560 to $4,800 for one full-time freelancer, and the GoodFirms $20 to $50 band to $3,200 to $8,000. A quote far below both usually leaves something out: code review, tests, or a person who picks up the work when the developer is ill.

For an upgrade, the hours depend less on the rate than on the distance. Count how many major versions the app must cross, how many deprecated APIs it still calls, and which third-party libraries have no release yet for the version you are moving to. Those three numbers, more than any hourly figure, decide whether an upgrade takes weeks or months.

Two free calculators let you check this yourself. The offshore development cost calculator lays your build hours against three price levels: offshore, nearshore and US. The other, the development team cost calculator, gives a monthly burn once you add the roles around the developer, such as QA and a project manager.

§ 06 · the first two weeks

Your first two weeks with an Angular developer

The developer begins work inside 24 hours of the signature, and that first day is about access, not code. Before you sign, have four things ready: access to the repository, a list of the environments and their URLs, a test login for each user role, and a note of the browsers your users actually run.

  1. Day 1, a build that runs. The developer clones the repository, installs it, runs the build and the test suite, and records the exact Angular version and every package that holds it in place. Whatever fails to install or build goes on a short list for you on day one.
  2. Days 2 to 5, one fix through the whole path. A small ticket travels from branch to review to your staging environment. It proves the deploy route and the review loop before anything larger depends on them.
  3. Week 2, the first real piece of work. For feature work, a backlog item that fits inside the week. For an upgrade, a written plan: each major step, the deprecated APIs the app still calls, and the libraries with no release for the target version.
  4. End of week 2, a review with your lead. You walk through what merged and what the plan says together, and agree the order of work for the following sprint.

Where nobody at your company reads Angular, the dedicated team is the better fit, because our lead does the reviewing and each build clears our QA team before you receive it. To test any upgrade plan, ours as well, put its hours and head count into the free software project timeline calculator, which converts them into weeks.

§ 07 · the interview

Seven interview questions that test Angular depth

Ask about work the candidate has done, not definitions anyone can look up. Each question below has a strong answer and a weak one, and the difference shows within a minute. Ask every candidate the same seven, ours included, and score them side by side.

  1. "Which major versions have you taken an app through, and what broke at each step?" A strong answer names the versions, the automatic migrations that ran and one fix they had to make by hand. "I always use the latest" is not an answer.
  2. "When do you reach for signals, and when for RxJS?" Listen for signals as state the template reads, and RxJS for streams of events over time, such as search as you type or a websocket feed, with a clear way of passing values between the two.
  3. "How do you make sure a subscription never outlives its component?" Expect the async pipe, takeUntilDestroyed, or code that avoids manual subscriptions in the first place.
  4. "This list re-renders too often. How do you find out why?" A good answer opens a profiler, checks the change detection strategy, and looks at the track expression in the @for loop, which Angular uses to match data to the DOM nodes it already drew.
  5. "How would you move one AngularJS screen into Angular without pausing releases?" A real answer mentions running both frameworks with ngUpgrade, upgrading or downgrading the services the screen depends on, and the order in which screens move.
  6. "How do you test a component, and what runs in CI?" Expect unit tests through the CLI's test target in whatever framework the project uses, such as Jasmine, Jest or Vitest, and a few end-to-end tests on the paths that earn money.
  7. "After an hour in our codebase, what would you change first?" A strong developer names one or two specific risks and the order to fix them. Proposing a full rewrite after an hour is a warning, not ambition.

Three answers should worry you anywhere in the interview: treating AngularJS and Angular as one skill, having no view on change detection, and wanting a global store such as NgRx for every piece of state, however small. Each points to someone who has worked on small Angular apps and not yet lived with a large one for years.

§ 08 · who you hire

In-house Angular developers, and how to check us

Angular sits on our in-house web bench beside Laravel and PHP developers, Magento and Node.js, and Python developers are on staff as well, so an Angular front end that needs API work has colleagues for it. The developer you interview already works for us. We publish no developer names here; the person proposed for your project is introduced at the interview, where you are free to say no.

Our web, frontend and backend engineers work from Delhi, the engineering headquarters, and from Lucknow. Our CTO, Divyansh Singh, is responsible for the architecture and the engineering standard across that work. New web builds usually start on Next.js and React, and our Angular work follows the systems clients already run, as our custom software development services page sets out.

Check the company before you check the developer. Clutch shows 5.0 from 66 verified reviews (checked 13 October 2026). Our DUNS number with Dun & Bradstreet is 650878346, and we are a Tier 1 supplier on the UN Global Marketplace. The custom software development company page lists our legal entities and offices and how to look each one up yourself.

No Angular client project is cleared to appear on this page yet, so we show none rather than borrow one from another stack. Ask the developer in the interview to share their screen and walk you through Angular code they wrote, and treat the first small ticket in week one as the real test.

§ 09 · hours and contracts

Overlap hours, the contract and code ownership

There is a single clock for the whole of India, IST at UTC+05:30, and its clocks never change for summer. New York is therefore 9 hours 30 minutes behind India from March to November and 10 hours 30 minutes behind in winter, which makes 9 AM in New York the Indian evening: 6:30 PM in the American summer, 7:30 PM in winter.

Working hours in Delhi and Lucknow are set to overlap the New York day. The New York office itself replies on the day a message arrives, inside its 9 AM to 6 PM Eastern weekday hours. Put the shared hours into the statement of work, and check them for your own city with the free time zone planner.

Your contract is with Digital Heroes Technologies Pvt Ltd in India or Digital Heroesco LLC in the US, whichever the MSA names, and for US engagements the default governing law is New York's. Before that, a one-page mutual NDA is signed at the point a scoping call is booked. Should the app handle patient records, a BAA joins the paperwork, because we sign one whenever our team handles PHI.

Ownership of the code, designs and assets created for this project passes to you, under the MSA, as soon as it is paid for in full. We retain the libraries and tooling we already had, or built to reuse across clients, and may show the finished work as a portfolio piece unless you object in writing. Keep the repository, the hosting and the domain in your company's accounts, and remove our developer's access on the day the work ends.

§ 10 · other routes

Freelancer, employee or firm: three routes to Angular help

Each route suits somebody. The rows below are judgments from projects we have seen, not measured figures, and they cover the things buyers tend to discover after signing. The bottom row is where each route fails, ours among them.

A marketplace freelancer, your own employee in India and an in-house developer from Digital Heroes, compared for Angular work
QuestionMarketplace freelancerEmployee you hire in IndiaOur in-house developer
First working dayWhen they accept the offerOnce they have served notice elsewhereThe next working day after signing
Paperwork in IndiaA marketplace contractA local entity or an employer of record, plus payrollOur MSA and a statement of work; the developer is on our payroll
Who reviews the codeYou doYour engineering leadYour lead, unless you take a dedicated team, in which case ours
Help beyond AngularOne person's skillsWhatever your team already hasLaravel, PHP, Node.js and Python colleagues, and a QA team
Does not fitA long upgrade with nobody to check the workA one-off migration with no Angular work after itA budget set only by the lowest hourly rate

For a fair money comparison on your own hours, the in-house vs agency cost calculator (free) adds hiring and overhead costs to the in-house column. If the job is wider than Angular, our web developers page covers the rest of the web stack.

§ 11 · fit

When we are the wrong choice for Angular work

Some Angular requests are better served by someone else. These four we turn down, and the call on which we say so costs you nothing.

  • A brand new product with no Angular anywhere. Unless your team wants Angular, we would usually build it on Next.js and React, and we will tell you so.
  • Your engineers must sit in the US. Engineering happens in India, and our Sydney office adds some mobile engineers; a contract insisting on US-based engineers is therefore one we cannot sign.
  • An AngularJS app due to be retired within the year. Keep it running as it is and put the money into whatever replaces it.
  • Price per hour is the only test. Firms that sell on rate alone will undercut us, and on that test their quote is the one to take.

For the rest, from one developer extending an Angular 21 app to a team moving off AngularJS, it all starts with a free 30-minute call.

§ 13 · questions

What buyers ask about Angular hiring

How much does it cost to hire a developer in India?

Upwork lists a median of $24 an hour for AngularJS developers, within a typical range of $16 to $30. GoodFirms' 2026 survey found 12.5 percent of software firms below $20 an hour, a band it links to South Asia, and 56.3 percent between $20 and $50. Over a 160-hour month, that comes to $2,560 to $4,800 across the Upwork range and $3,200 to $8,000 across the common firm band. Our own monthly rate is given after a call.

What is the average salary for an Angular developer in India?

PayScale puts the median base salary for people in India with Angular as a skill at ₹1,081,885 a year, about ₹10.8 lakh, from 1,698 profiles updated on 12 July 2026. The 10th percentile is near ₹3.9 lakh and the 90th near ₹25.6 lakh. A salary is what an employer pays; a firm's rate for the same developer also covers employment costs, management and code review, so it runs higher.

Is Angular still in high demand?

It is in steady use. In Stack Overflow's 2025 survey, 19.8 percent of the 19,460 professional developers who answered had done extensive work in Angular over the past year, against 46.9 percent for React, and 7.5 percent were still working in AngularJS. The Angular team released Angular 22 on 3 June 2026 and lists long-term support for it until June 2028.

Can AI replace Angular developers?

Not for work someone has to stand behind. Angular's own documentation says models often write working code but struggle with a framework that keeps changing, which is why it publishes rules files and an MCP server to keep assistants on current conventions. DORA's 2025 report describes AI as an amplifier of a team's existing strengths and weaknesses. Use it to speed a developer up, with tests and review still deciding what ships.

Which AI is best for Angular?

Angular names no single winner. Its CLI includes an MCP server, started with npx @angular/cli mcp, that assistants such as Cursor, JetBrains AI and VS Code can connect to, and angular.dev publishes rules files for Copilot, Cursor, JetBrains IDEs, VS Code and Windsurf. Whichever assistant your team already uses, connect it to those, so it works from the best practices for your Angular version.

What routes are there to an Angular developer based in India?

There are three routes. Freelance marketplaces such as Upwork list individual developers. You can employ someone directly, which in India needs a local entity or an employer of record service. Or you can go through a firm whose Angular developers are already on its payroll, as ours are. Whichever you choose, interview the person who will commit the code and keep the repository under your company's account. Ours start the next working day after you sign.

How fast can an Angular developer start?

The working day after you sign, and in any case within 24 hours of signing. Access fills that first day (repository, environments, a test login per role), so prepare those in advance. Pulling a dedicated team together takes longer, and a fixed-scope upgrade or migration opens with two weeks of discovery before code.

Can you take over an AngularJS app and move it to Angular?

Yes, and the first step is reading it. The developer builds the existing app, lists what works and what does not, and sets out which route fits: a hybrid with ngUpgrade that moves screens across while releases continue, or a rewrite. You get that written assessment before committing to the migration, and the choice of route stays with you.

Who owns the code an Angular developer writes for us?

You do, from the moment the work is paid in full. Under our MSA, everything built specifically for your project, the code, designs and assets, becomes yours at that point. We keep our pre-existing tools and libraries, and those made for reuse, and may feature the finished work in our portfolio unless you refuse in writing. Hold the repository and the hosting in your company's own accounts, so access never depends on us.
