How to use the Text / Markdown to PDF converter
This converter turns plain text or simple Markdown into a real PDF with selectable text. It reads your headings, bold words, lists and dividers, then lays them out in Helvetica, wraps long lines and starts new pages as needed. Use it for briefs, notes, letters or any text you need to send as a tidy PDF.

Paste or type your text
Put your content in the Text / Markdown box. Start a line with #, ## or ### for a heading, wrap words in double asterisks for bold, start a line with a hyphen or an asterisk and a space for a bullet, or 1. for a numbered item, and type --- on its own line for a divider. Leave a blank line between paragraphs. Press Load sample to see an example.

Check the live preview
The Live preview box shows how your text was read: which lines became headings, lists, dividers or paragraphs. It updates a moment after you stop typing. It shows structure only, not the final page size or font size.

Add a title if you want one
Type a Document title to print it in large bold type at the top of the first page. It also names the file, so Q3 Report becomes q3-report.pdf. Leave it empty and the file is called document.pdf.

Choose page size and margin
Pick A4 (210 × 297 mm) or Letter (8.5 × 11 in) under Page size. Under Margin, choose Narrow (0.5 in), Normal (0.75 in) or Wide (1 in). Normal is the default.

Set the text size
Drag the Body font size slider from 8 to 18 pt. The default is 11 pt. Headings scale with it: a # heading is 1.7 times the body size, ## is 1.35 times and ### is 1.15 times.

Download the PDF
Press Download PDF. The button reads Building while it works, then the file downloads and a message tells you how many pages it has. Press Clear to empty both the text and the title.
Reading the result
- The line beside the buttons counts words and blocks. A block is one heading, paragraph, list item or divider. The sample reads 64 words and 12 blocks, because Markdown symbols such as # and the bullet hyphen are counted as words too.
- In the PDF, lines that sit next to each other without a blank line between them are joined into one paragraph. Use a blank line wherever you want a new paragraph.
- Numbered items keep the number you typed. If you type 1. three times, the PDF shows 1. three times.
- The PDF holds real text, not a picture of text, so you can select it, search it and copy from it.
Tips and common mistakes
- Only #, ## and ### headings, double asterisk bold, bullets, numbered items and --- dividers are read. Italics, links, tables and code are printed as plain text, symbols included.
- Stick to Western European characters. The built in Helvetica font cannot draw emoji, arrows or scripts such as Chinese, Arabic or Cyrillic, and the download fails with a Could not build PDF message if your text contains them.
- Words in a heading are always bold, so you do not need asterisks there.
- If a message says the PDF engine is still loading, wait a second and press Download PDF again. The engine loads just after the page.
- Nothing is saved between visits. Keep your source text somewhere else if you plan to edit and rebuild the PDF later.
Privacy and limits
The PDF is built in your browser with the pdf-lib library, which loads from this site. Your text and title are not sent anywhere and nothing is stored, so closing the tab clears them. Once the page has loaded, it also works offline.
