How faithful are the edits? (honest fidelity note)

Your original PDF content is preserved untouched. Edits are applied as precise overlays, exactly how browser-based PDF editors work. Replaced text is re-drawn at the exact same size and position using the closest standard font (Helvetica, Times or Courier family), because an embedded subset font cannot be re-used for new characters in the browser. For most documents the result is visually indistinguishable; decorative custom fonts fall back to the nearest standard look-alike.

Edit a PDF without the upload

Most “free” PDF editors push your document to a server before they let you touch it. This one does everything on your device. Switch to Edit text and click any existing line to retype it, the tool re-draws it at the same position and size in the closest standard font, so the change looks native. Add text boxes in Helvetica, Times or Courier, insert PNG or JPG images, draw or type a signature, cover mistakes with whiteout, mark passages with a highlighter, or drop in rectangles, ellipses, lines and arrows with custom stroke, fill and opacity. Undo/redo, zoom, page thumbnails with edit badges and keyboard shortcuts are all there. When it looks right, Export PDF bakes your edits into a standard file, or flatten any page to PNG. Fully private, offline-capable once loaded, no sign-up, free forever.

§ 04 · faq

Frequently asked questions.

Is PDF Editor free?
Yes , completely free for everyone. No sign-up, no account and no usage limits.
Is it private? Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No upload, ever. PDF Editor runs entirely in your browser on your own device, so your document never leaves your computer and nothing is sent to a server.
Can I really edit the existing text in the PDF?
Yes. Choose the Edit text tool and click any text run on the page, then retype it. The tool covers the original characters and re-draws your text at the same position and size using the closest standard font (Helvetica, Times or Courier). Because embedded subset fonts can’t be re-used for new characters in the browser, a decorative custom font falls back to the nearest standard look-alike , for most documents the result is visually indistinguishable.
Does the original PDF content stay intact?
Yes. Your original page content is preserved byte-identical , every change is applied as a precise overlay on export, rather than rewriting the file. That keeps vectors, forms and untouched text crisp and faithful.
Does it work offline?
Yes , once the page and its PDF libraries have loaded, opening, editing and exporting all happen locally, so it keeps working without a connection.
Why won’t my password-protected PDF open?
Encrypted or password-protected PDFs can’t be edited in place until they’re unlocked. Remove the password first (in your PDF viewer or a dedicated unlock tool), then open the file here.
