Palettes that actually go together

Each color is computed with HSL math from a seed hue. Analogous, complementary, triadic, monochromatic and shade modes follow real color-theory relationships, while Auto mixes them up for happy accidents. Lock the swatches you want to keep and reroll the rest, fine-tune any color with the picker, then grab hex, RGB, CSS variables, a PNG strip or a shareable link. It all runs on your device and your last palette is remembered automatically.

§ 02 · what you can do

Everything a palette tool should do.

  • Generate harmonious palettes instantly using color-theory modes: analogous, complementary, triadic, monochromatic, shades or Auto.
  • Lock any swatch to keep it across rerolls, then regenerate the rest until the palette is perfect.
  • Fine-tune colors by clicking a swatch to open the native color picker and dial in the exact shade you need.
  • Copy hex or RGB values with one click per swatch, or grab all five hex codes at once.
  • Export CSS variables as a ready-to-paste :root{} block, or download a labeled PNG strip for mockups.
  • Share palettes via a URL that encodes all five colors and their lock state — private by construction, nothing uploaded.
§ 03 · how to use it

Five steps, no manual.

  1. Pick a harmony mode — Analogous, Complementary, Triadic, Monochromatic, Shades or Auto — from the segmented control.
  2. Click Generate or press Space to get a fresh palette.
  3. Lock any swatch you want to keep (click its lock, or press its number 1–5), then reroll again.
  4. Click a swatch to open the color picker and set the exact shade; click the hex label to copy it.
  5. Use Copy all hex, Export CSS, Download PNG strip or Copy share link to take the palette with you.
§ 04 · faq

Frequently asked questions.

Is the Color Palette Generator free?
Yes — completely free for everyone. No sign-up, no account and no usage limits.
Is it private? Are my palettes uploaded anywhere?
No upload, ever. The generator runs entirely in your browser on your own device, so your colors never leave your computer and nothing is sent to a server.
How are the harmonies calculated?
Every color is built with HSL math from a seed hue. Analogous shifts the hue by small steps, complementary and triadic add 180° and 120° rotations, monochromatic and shades vary saturation and lightness on one hue. Auto picks a mode at random for happy accidents.
Will I lose my palette if I close the tab?
No — your last palette and its lock state are saved in this browser automatically and reload when you come back. For a permanent copy, use Copy share link or Export CSS.
Can I use these colors commercially?
Yes. Colors and hex codes are not copyrightable, so anything you generate here is free to use in any personal or commercial project — websites, branding, print, apps — with no attribution required.
