§ 02 · what you can do
Everything a notepad should do.
- Write in Markdown, headings, bold, italic, inline code, fenced code blocks, lists, quotes, links and images, and flip to a rendered preview in one click.
- Keep as many notes as you like in a persistent sidebar, sorted by last edit, with the title derived from the first line when you don't set one.
- Search every note instantly by title or body content as you type.
- Autosave as you type, a live word and character count and an honest Saving…/Saved indicator, no save button to remember.
- Export a single note as .md, back up everything as one JSON file, and import a backup to restore notes in any browser.
- Private by construction: notes live in your browser's local storage only, they even sync between open tabs without touching a server.
§ 03 · how to use it
Four steps, no manual.
- Click + New note to create your first note, or pick an existing one from the sidebar.
- Type in the Write tab using plain text or Markdown formatting, it autosaves as you go.
- Click Preview to see your Markdown rendered as clean, formatted text.
- Use Export .md to download the open note, or Export all (.json) to back up every note, Import .json restores it anywhere.

Frequently asked questions.
Is Notes free?
Yes, completely free for everyone. No sign-up, no account and no usage limits.
Is it private? Are my notes uploaded anywhere?
No upload, ever. Notes runs entirely in your browser on your own device, your notes are saved to local storage and never leave your computer.
Does it work offline?
Yes, once the page has loaded, writing, previewing, searching and exporting all keep working without a connection, because every bit of logic runs locally.
What Markdown syntax is supported?
Headings (# through ######), bold, italic, inline code, fenced code blocks, bulleted and numbered lists, blockquotes, horizontal rules, links and images. The preview renders it all with your content safely escaped first.
Will I lose my notes if I close the tab?
No, notes autosave to this browser and reload when you come back. Clearing site data removes them, so use Export all (.json) for a backup you control, and Import .json to restore it on any device.
