A keyboard-first mind map that stays on your machine

Start from a central idea and grow branches with Tab and Enter — every branch gets its own color automatically, and you can recolor, drag, collapse or delete any subtree. One click tidies the whole map as a left-to-right tree or a radial burst, and you can pan, zoom and fit the canvas freely. Keep as many maps as you like, undo anything, and export a crisp 2× PNG, a JSON backup or a plain-text outline. No account, no server, completely free and private.

§ 02 · what you can do

Everything a mind map should do.

  • Build a map from scratch in seconds, starting from a central topic you name yourself — and keep as many separate maps as you like.
  • Add child and sibling nodes with Tab and Enter, then rename them inline with a double-click or F2.
  • Auto-layout the whole map as a left-to-right tree or a radial burst with one click — with curved, elbow or straight connectors.
  • Color entire branches by selecting any node and choosing a color, which cascades to all children.
  • Collapse subtrees to hide detail, drag any node (with its whole subtree) to reposition it, and undo/redo every change.
  • Export your map as a crisp 2× PNG, a JSON backup you can re-import, or an indented text outline.
§ 03 · how to use it

Five steps, no manual.

  1. Click the central topic node and press F2 (or double-click) to type your idea.
  2. Press Tab to add a child branch and Enter to add a sibling — while typing, Tab saves and adds a child immediately.
  3. Use Auto-layout to tidy the map, or drag nodes freely. Switch between Tree and Radial views any time.
  4. Select a node and use the color picker to recolor an entire branch at once, or C to collapse its subtree.
  5. Click Download PNG, Export JSON or Outline .txt to save your map. Your data stays on your device.

Frequently asked questions.

Is the Mind Map maker free?
Yes — completely free for everyone. No sign-up, no account and no usage limits.
Is it private? Are my maps uploaded anywhere?
Completely private. The mind map runs entirely in your browser, so your maps never leave your computer and nothing is uploaded to a server.
Does it work offline?
Yes — once the page has loaded, everything (adding nodes, layouts, exports) works without a connection, because all logic runs locally.
Will I lose my maps if I close the tab?
No — they're saved in this browser automatically and reload when you come back. Clearing site data removes them, so use Export JSON for a backup you control.
How do I export or share a mind map?
Three ways: Download PNG renders a crisp 2× image of the whole map, Export JSON saves a backup you can re-import on any device, and Outline .txt produces an indented plain-text outline for docs and notes.
What keyboard shortcuts are there?
With the canvas focused: Tab adds a child, Enter adds a sibling, F2 renames, Delete removes a subtree, C collapses or expands, arrow keys navigate between nodes, Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y undo and redo, and + / − / 0 zoom in, out and fit. The ? Help button lists them all.
