Most flashcard apps put your decks behind an account and sync them to the cloud. This one keeps every deck and your review history in your browser's local storage. § 02 · what you can do

Everything a flashcards app should do.

  • Create unlimited decks for any subject, languages, exams, formulas, or definitions.
  • Flip interactive cards with a click or keyboard shortcuts: Space to flip, 1 for Again, 2 for Got it.
  • Learn with the Leitner system: five boxes, and correct answers push a card's next review out to 1, 3, 7, then 14 days, misses drop it back to box 1.
  • Bulk-add cards by pasting “front : back” lines, one card per row, tab-separated lines work too.
  • Export any deck as JSON to back it up or share it, and import it on any device.
  • Private by construction: decks and review history live in your browser only; nothing is uploaded.
§ 03 · how to use it

Four steps, no manual.

  1. Click + New deck and give it a name, for example, “Spanish verbs” or “Biology 101”.
  2. Add cards one at a time with + Add card, or paste a whole list with Bulk add.
  3. Hit Study, flip each card, then rate yourself with Got it or Again.
  4. Come back tomorrow, the Leitner boxes update automatically, so you only review what's due.

Frequently asked questions.

Is Flashcards free?
Yes, completely free for everyone. No sign-up, no account and no usage limits.
Is it private? Are my decks uploaded anywhere?
No upload, ever. Flashcards runs entirely in your browser on your own device, your decks and review history stay in local storage and never leave your computer.
How does the spaced repetition work?
It uses the classic Leitner system with five boxes. Mark a card Got it and it moves up a box, with its next review scheduled 1, 3, 7 or 14 days out. Mark it Again and it drops back to box 1 to be reviewed within a day, so your time goes to the cards you haven't learned yet.
Does it work offline?
Yes, once the page has loaded, everything (creating decks, studying, grading, exporting) works without a connection, because all logic runs locally in your browser.
Can I move my decks to another device?
Yes. Open a deck's card manager and click Export JSON to download it, then use Import JSON on the other device. The file includes each card's box and due date, so your progress travels with it.
Will I lose my decks if I close the tab?
No, decks are saved in this browser automatically and reload when you come back. Clearing site data removes them, so use Export JSON now and then for a backup you control.
