Decision maker. Spin, pick, flip, roll.

Every spin, pick and roll happens locally, nothing is uploaded.

Settle it fairly, in a tap

Whether you're choosing where to eat, picking a raffle winner or breaking a tie, the Decision Maker uses your browser's random number generator for an unbiased result. Four modes cover every deadlock: a spin-the-wheel picker for any set of options, a random name picker with an optional raffle mode that eliminates each winner, a coin flip for heads or tails, and a dice roller for up to six dice with an automatic total. Your lists never leave the page, no signup, no tracking, free forever.

How to use the Decision Maker

The Decision Maker settles a choice at random in four ways: a spinning wheel, a name picker with a raffle mode, a coin flip and a dice roller. Every result comes from your browser's random number generator, and the animation is only for show. Use it for where to eat, who goes first, a team raffle or breaking a tie.

Step by step

  1. Choose a mode

Pick a tab at the top: Wheel, Pick from list, Coin or Dice. Wheel is open when the page loads. Each mode keeps its own result banner.

  2. Spin the wheel

In Wheel mode, type your choices in Options, one per line. On a first visit it holds Pizza, Sushi, Tacos, Burgers and Salad, and it redraws as you type. Press Spin. You need at least two options, and the spin lasts about four to five seconds before the Winner banner shows the result.

  3. Pick a name from a list

In Pick from list mode, type one name or item per line in Names / items. The Pool on the right shows who is in the draw. Press Pick a winner: names flash for a moment, then the Winner banner shows the name drawn. Without raffle mode that name is also highlighted in the pool.

  4. Run a raffle

Tick Remove the winner after each pick to take each winner out of the pool, so nobody wins twice. You can also remove a name by hand with the cross beside it. Press Reset list to put every name from the box back in the pool.

  5. Flip a coin

In Coin mode, press Flip coin. The coin spins for a little over two seconds and the Result banner shows Heads or Tails, each with an even chance.

  6. Roll dice

In Dice mode, choose 1 to 6 in How many dice, then press Roll. Each die shows its face, and the banner shows the total.

Reading the result

  • When a spin or pick ends, the Winner banner shows the result in large text, and a short message at the bottom of the screen repeats it.
  • The count above the pool, for example 5 remaining, shows how many names are still in the draw. In raffle mode it drops by one after each pick.
  • With two or more dice the banner shows the total and the single rolls, for example 9 (3 + 6). With one die it shows You rolled and the number.
  • On the wheel, an option longer than 18 characters is cut to its first 17 and an ellipsis. The banner always shows the full text of the winner.

Tips and common mistakes

  • Use a different name on every line. In raffle mode a winner is removed by matching text, so two identical lines leave the pool together.
  • Removing names by hand only lasts while raffle mode is ticked. Without it, every pick draws from the whole box again.
  • Editing the names box or ticking or unticking raffle mode refills the pool from the box, so finish editing before you start drawing.
  • When the raffle pool runs out, pressing Pick a winner again refills it from the box automatically.
  • If your device is set to reduce motion, results appear at once without the spin, flash or tumble.
  • The randomness is the browser's standard generator, which suits everyday choices. For a prize draw with formal rules, check what those rules require.

Privacy and limits

Every spin, pick, flip and roll happens in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere. Your wheel options and your name list are saved in this browser's local storage so they are still there next time. Clearing your site data removes them.

§ 04 · faq

Frequently asked questions.

Is the Decision Maker free?
Yes, completely free for everyone. No sign-up, no account and no usage limits.
Is it private? Are my lists uploaded anywhere?
No upload, ever. Every spin, pick, flip and roll is computed in your browser on your own device, your options and name lists never leave your computer.
Is the result actually fair?
Yes. The winner is chosen with your browser's random number generator before any animation plays, so every option, name, side or face has an equal chance, the wheel and dice animations just show the result, they don't influence it.
What is raffle mode?
In the Pick from list mode, tick "Remove the winner after each pick" and every winner is taken out of the pool automatically. That makes multi-round draws fair, nobody can win twice. You can also remove individual names by hand, or hit Reset list to restore the full pool.
Are my lists saved between visits?
Yes, your wheel options and your name list are saved in this browser automatically as you type, and reload when you come back. Clearing site data removes them.
Does it work offline?
Yes, once the page has loaded, every spin, pick, flip and roll runs locally, so the tool keeps working without a connection.
