Countdown & stopwatch. Big, precise, entirely yours.

Count down to zero with a chime and optional desktop notification, or time anything with lap splits, measured against your system clock and running entirely in your browser. Nothing uploaded.

A free online tool by Digital Heroes

Timing runs locally in your browser, nothing is uploaded.

Accurate timing, no install

Both tools time against the system clock rather than counting interval ticks, so they stay accurate even if the tab is throttled in the background. The countdown can chime and raise a desktop notification when it reaches zero (permission is only requested when you tick the box), and the stopwatch records lap and split times with the fastest and slowest highlighted. Free forever, nothing leaves your device.

§ 02 · what you can do

One card, two precise modes.

  • Set a countdown in hours, minutes and seconds, or pick a quick preset: 1, 5, 10 or 25 minutes.
  • Count down to a clock time today with the target-time input, if the time has already passed, it rolls to tomorrow automatically.
  • Get a chime and desktop notification the moment the countdown reaches zero; permission is only requested when you tick the box.
  • Run a stopwatch accurate to the centisecond, with Start, Pause, Resume and Reset, and the live time mirrored into the tab title.
  • Record lap and split times and see the fastest and slowest laps highlighted automatically.
  • Copy laps to clipboard as a tab-separated table ready to paste straight into a spreadsheet.
§ 03 · how to use it

Four steps, no manual.

  1. Choose Countdown or Stopwatch with the tabs at the top of the card. No signup needed.
  2. For the countdown: type a duration or tap a preset, then press Start. Tick the checkboxes for a chime or desktop notification at zero.
  3. Or pick a clock time and press Use time to count down to a meeting, launch or deadline today.
  4. For the stopwatch: press Start, tap Lap to record each split, then Copy laps to export the table.
§ 04 · faq

Frequently asked questions.

Is Countdown & Stopwatch free?
Yes, completely free for everyone. No sign-up, no account and no usage limits.
Is it private? Is anything uploaded?
No upload, ever. The timer, chime and lap times are all computed in your browser on your own device, nothing is sent to a server.
Does it stay accurate in a background tab?
Yes. Both tools measure against your system clock rather than counting ticks, so the remaining or elapsed time never drifts, the display simply catches up when you return. In heavily throttled background tabs the end-of-countdown chime can arrive a moment late, but the time itself is always correct.
Does it work offline?
Yes, once the page has loaded, the countdown, stopwatch, chime and lap recording all keep working without a connection, because everything runs locally.
Why does my browser ask for notification permission?
Only because you ticked "Desktop notification", it's used solely to show a "countdown reached zero" alert. It's never requested otherwise, and you can revoke it any time in your browser settings.
