The 50/30/20 rule, flexibly

The classic rule puts 50% toward needs (rent, groceries, utilities), 30% toward wants and 20% toward savings and extra debt payments. Tighter months might call for 60/20/20 or 70/20/10, or set your own custom split. Add real line items under each bucket to see exactly how much room is left, with over-budget warnings before the month gets away from you. Everything stays in your browser's local storage and exports to CSV. No account, nothing uploaded, free forever.

Frequently asked questions.

Is the Budget Planner free?
Yes, completely free for everyone. No sign-up, no account and no usage limits.
Is it private? Is my financial data uploaded anywhere?
No upload, ever. The planner runs entirely in your browser on your own device, your income and expenses are saved to this browser's local storage and never leave your computer.
What is the 50/30/20 rule?
A simple budgeting guideline: put 50% of your monthly take-home toward needs (rent, groceries, utilities), 30% toward wants and 20% toward savings and extra debt payments. The planner also offers 60/20/20, 70/20/10 and a fully custom split.
Will I lose my budget if I close the tab?
No, it's saved in this browser automatically and reloads when you come back. Clearing site data removes it, so download a CSV copy any time you want a backup.
Can I change the currency?
Yes, pick from ten currency symbols including USD, EUR, GBP, INR, JPY, AUD and CAD. The symbol is used for display only; no exchange-rate conversion happens.
Does it work offline?
Yes, once the page has loaded, every calculation, line item and export runs locally, so it keeps working without a connection.
