Private by design
Most online QR readers send your photo to a server to decode it. This scanner decodes everything right here using a vendored copy of the open-source jsQR engine and your browser's camera API, so the QR contents, your camera feed and any image you pick stay entirely on your device. It even keeps working offline once the page has loaded.

§ 03 · how to use it
Four steps, no app to install.
- Choose Camera to scan live, or switch to Image to upload a photo.
- For camera, press Start camera, allow access and point at the QR code. For image, drop or browse a file.
- The decoded result appears automatically, tagged with its type (URL, Wi-Fi, contact card and so on).
- Copy the text or tap Open link if it's a URL. Press Scan again to read another code.

Is the QR Code Scanner free?
Yes — completely free for everyone. No sign-up, no account and no usage limits.
Is it private? Are my camera feed and files uploaded anywhere?
No upload, ever. The scanner runs entirely in your browser on your own device using a vendored copy of the jsQR engine — your camera feed and any image you pick never leave your computer.
Does it work offline?
Yes — once the page has loaded, decoding from an image works without a connection because all the logic runs locally. Live camera scanning still needs your browser's camera permission, but no network.
Why won't my camera turn on?
Browsers only grant camera access on secure pages, so the site must be served over HTTPS, and you'll be asked to allow access the first time. If you denied it, re-enable the camera permission for this site, or use Image mode to scan a photo instead.
What kinds of QR codes can it read?
Any standard QR code. It automatically recognises links, email addresses, phone numbers, SMS, Wi-Fi credentials, vCard contact cards, geo locations and plain text, and tags the result so you know what you scanned.
