- On the money tabs (Discount, Tax / VAT), pick your currency symbol from the selector under the calculator.
- On the Tax / VAT tab, switch between Add tax to price and Remove tax from price, the right formula is applied automatically.

Is the Percentage Calculator free?
Yes, completely free for everyone. No sign-up, no account and no usage limits.
Is it private? Are my numbers uploaded anywhere?
No upload, ever. Every calculation runs in your browser on your own device, your numbers never leave your computer and nothing is sent to a server.
Does it work offline?
Yes, once the page has loaded, all five calculators run locally, so they keep working without a connection.
Why is “remove 20% tax” different from “subtract 20%”?
If a price already includes 20% VAT, the tax is 20% of the original net price, not 20% of the gross total. The correct formula divides by 1.2 rather than multiplying by 0.8, this tool applies the right formula for each direction automatically.
What's the difference between a percentage change and a percentage point?
Going from 10% to 15% is a rise of 5 percentage points, but a 50% percentage change, because the increase is measured relative to the starting value. The % increase / decrease tab always computes the relative change.
Does it remember my currency choice?
Yes, the currency symbol you pick for the Discount and Tax / VAT tabs is saved in this browser only, so it's preselected next time. Nothing else is stored and nothing leaves your device.
