Mock data generator. Realistic rows in a click.

Test data, without the fake-data SaaS

Choose any mix of 15 field types, from full names and emails to UUIDs, job titles, addresses and lorem sentences, set a row count up to 500, and the generator builds a realistic dataset in under a second using your browser's cryptographic random-number generator. Names, emails and companies stay internally consistent within a row, so email matches the person's fullName. Export straight to CSV for a spreadsheet or database seed, download JSON for API mocking and unit tests, or copy JSON to the clipboard. Everything runs on your device, nothing is uploaded, and it keeps working offline.

How to use the Mock Data Generator

This generator builds a table of fake records, such as names, emails, phone numbers, addresses and IDs, for testing an app, filling a spreadsheet or running a demo. Each value is picked at random from built-in word lists using your browser's random number generator, and the name and email in a row match each other. You can export the rows as CSV or JSON.

Step by step

  1. Choose your fields

Tick the fields you want in the list on the left. There are 15, from ID (uuid), Full name, Email and Phone (the four ticked by default) to Company, Job title, Street address, City, Country, Date, Boolean, Number and Lorem sentence. The table rebuilds each time you tick or untick one.

  2. Clear or select all at once

Press None to untick every field, then tick only the ones you need. The button then reads All, but it only ticks all 15 when no field is ticked. If any field is ticked, a press clears them all, whatever the label says.

  3. Set the number of rows

Type a number from 1 to 500 in Rows; the default is 25. Values outside that range are pulled back to 1 or 500. Then press Regenerate to build a fresh set with that many rows.

  4. Check the preview

The table shows each field as a column, using its export name such as fullName or jobTitle. It shows up to the first 100 rows; larger sets are complete in every export.

  5. Export the data

Press Download CSV for mock-data.csv, Download JSON for mock-data.json, or Copy JSON to put the JSON on your clipboard.

Reading the result

  • The line above the table shows the size of the set. With the defaults it reads 25 rows × 4 fields.
  • Full name, First name, Last name and Email in one row use the same person, so an email is built from the name, a number from 1 to 99 and a domain from a short list, for example jordan.lee42@example.com.
  • Phone numbers use a US style format, +1 (555) 555-5555 in shape. Dates fall between 2018 and 2025 in YYYY-MM-DD form, Number is a whole number from 1 to 10000, and Lorem sentence has 6 to 12 words.
  • The JSON is an array of objects, one per row. Boolean and Number stay true JSON values, not text, so they load into code without conversion.

Tips and common mistakes

  • Use the ID (uuid) column as a unique key. Names and emails come from short lists, so the same name can appear more than once in a large set.
  • Pressing Regenerate always gives new values. There is no seed, so save the export if you need the same data again later.
  • Do not send real mail to the generated addresses. Some of the domains in the list, such as mailinator.com, are real services.
  • Changing Rows does not rebuild the table by itself. Press Regenerate after you change it.

Privacy and limits

Everything is generated in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere or saved. Each set is capped at 500 rows, and the preview shows at most 100 of them.

§ 04 · faq

Frequently asked questions.

Is the Mock Data Generator free?
Yes, completely free for everyone. No sign-up, no account and no usage limits.
Is it private? Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No upload, ever. The generator runs entirely in your browser on your own device using its built-in crypto random-number generator, nothing is sent to a server.
Does it work offline?
Yes, once the page has loaded, generating and exporting all work without a connection, because every field is produced locally.
How many rows and field types can I generate?
Up to 500 rows per generation, across 15 field types. The preview shows the first 100 rows for speed, and the full set is written into every CSV, JSON or clipboard export.
Is the fake data realistic and safe to use?
Every value is randomly assembled from generic pools and safe placeholder email domains like example.com, it looks realistic for demos and tests but doesn't correspond to real people, so it's safe for seeding databases and prototypes.
