Share that photo on a forum, marketplace or chat and you may be handing strangers your home address. Frequently asked questions.

Is the EXIF Viewer & Remover free?
Yes — completely free for everyone. No sign-up, no account and no usage limits, for single photos or batches.
Is it private? Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No upload, ever. The tool reads and re-encodes your images entirely in your browser on your own device — your photos and their metadata never leave your computer.
What metadata can it see and remove?
It reads the hidden EXIF block in JPEG photos — GPS coordinates, camera make and model, software, orientation, date taken, exposure, ISO and focal length. Stripping re-encodes the image through a canvas, so all embedded metadata is dropped, not just the tags shown.
Does stripping metadata reduce image quality?
The clean copy keeps the full pixel resolution. JPEGs are re-saved at high quality (0.92), and non-JPEG formats like PNG are re-encoded losslessly, so any change is negligible — the metadata is what's removed.
Why does my PNG or WebP show no metadata?
Camera/GPS EXIF is a JPEG (and TIFF) convention — PNG, WebP and GIF don't carry it in a form this tool reads. They'll show "no EXIF," but you can still re-encode them to guarantee a clean, metadata-free output file.
Does it work offline?
Yes — once the page has loaded, reading metadata and stripping it both work without a connection, because all the parsing and canvas re-encoding runs locally in your browser.
