From body metrics to a daily calorie target

BMI compares your weight to your height; BMR (via the Mifflin-St Jeor equation) is the energy you'd burn at rest; and TDEE multiplies that by your activity level to estimate what you burn in a normal day. From there the calculator suggests daily calories to maintain, lose or gain weight at a steady pace — with loss targets capped at a safe minimum. Everything runs in your browser: fast, private and free forever.

§ 02 · what you can do

One form, four answers.

  • Calculate your BMI and see exactly which weight category you fall into on a colour-coded 15–40 scale.
  • Find your healthy weight range for your height, shown in kg or lb to match your units.
  • Estimate your resting calorie burn (BMR) using the clinically validated Mifflin-St Jeor equation.
  • Get your TDEE — total daily energy expenditure — from five activity levels, sedentary to very active.
  • See four calorie targets at once: mild loss, weight loss, maintain and weight gain, with unsafe deficits capped automatically.
  • Switch between metric and imperial instantly — results recompute the moment you toggle or type.
§ 03 · how to use it

Five steps, no signup.

  1. Choose Metric or Imperial units and select your sex (used only by the BMR formula).
  2. Enter your height and weight — your BMI, category and healthy weight range appear instantly.
  3. Read your position on the colour-coded BMI scale, from underweight to obese class III.
  4. Add your age and pick an activity level to unlock BMR, TDEE and the four calorie targets.
  5. Adjust any input at any time — everything recomputes live, with no button to press.
§ 04 · faq

Frequently asked questions.

Is the BMI & Calorie Calculator free?
Yes — completely free for everyone. No sign-up, no account and no usage limits.
Is it private? Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No upload, ever. Your height, weight and age are processed entirely in your browser on your own device — nothing is sent to a server or stored anywhere.
How are the calorie numbers calculated?
Resting burn (BMR) uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, then your activity level multiplies it into TDEE. Loss targets subtract 250 or 500 kcal/day and gain adds 500 — with loss targets capped at a safe minimum of 1,500 kcal (men) or 1,200 kcal (women).
Does it support imperial units?
Yes. Toggle to Imperial and the form switches to feet/inches and pounds; your healthy weight range is shown in lb too. Toggle back to Metric any time — results recompute instantly.
Does it work offline?
Yes — every calculation runs locally, so once the page has loaded the calculator keeps working without a connection.
Is this medical advice?
No. These are general estimates for healthy adults, for information only. BMI doesn't account for muscle mass or body composition — talk to a doctor or dietitian before changing your diet or exercise.
